How to Change Standard Account Passwords

Changing passwords is important to ensure that accounts are secure. This can be done from the teacher's account, or as an admin from the accounts page.

When changing the password please mind the password requirements:

  • must contain at least 14 characters

  • at least one uppercase letter

  • at least one lowercase letter

  • at least 1 number

  • at least one special character from this list: @#$%^&+!=


From a Teacher's Account

  1. Once you're signed in, click the gear icon at the top right corner.

  2. Click My Profile.

  3. Scroll down and click Change password.

  4. First type your current password then create a new one.

  5. Click Save.

📣 Raptor SmartPass 📣

Raptor SmartPass staff profiles are housed in the Raptor platform where staff accounts are managed. Follow the steps below to change your Raptor SmartPass password:

Note: This is only applicable if your school is not using a single-sign-on login method like Clever or Classlink.

  1. Click your profile icon then select My Profile.

  2. Once in your Raptor profile, click the Change Password tab to change your password.


From an Admin Account

  1. From the Admin page, click Accounts.

  2. Click on the appropriate tab (Student, Teachers, etc.) and find the account whose password needs changed - Click on their name to open their profile box.

  3. Scroll down and under Password, click Change.

  4. Enter a new password.

  5. Click Save.

📣 Raptor SmartPass 📣

Please Note: Password reset is only available for Raptor created accounts. If your school uses a single sign-on login method (like Google single sign-on or Active Directory), password resets will need to be handled through your school.

As part of ongoing improvements, integrations and account management are handled within Raptor. As a result, clicking on Accounts opens two options:

  1. Students

    1. Find student whose password needs changed and click on their name.

    2. When their profile box opens, scroll down and under Password, click Change.

    3. Enter a new password.

    4. Click Save.

  2. Admins & Teachers

    1. Redirects to the User Management page in Raptor.

    2. Locate the user whose password needs changed then click the Details button to the left of their name.

    3. When the User Details workspace opens, scroll down to the User Details section and click the Reset Password button.

    4. Click Continue in the pop-up box.

    5. A confirmation pop-up will appear stating the reset was a Success and providing a randomly generated password.

    6. Provide the user their password in a secure method. They will be prompted to create a new password upon logging in.

FAQ

Can I change all of my standard account passwords in bulk?

No, but if you are only using standard accounts, you can share with us a new spreadsheet of accounts and we can reset all of your accounts with new passwords.

📣 Raptor SmartPass 📣

No, not for existing users. However, when importing for the first time, all users are given a password. You can turn on a setting that requires users to change their password upon their first time logging in.

Is there a way to send a "reset password" email to users?

Currently you cannot do this, you would want to reset the password using the steps above.

📣 Raptor SmartPass 📣

No, not as an admin. You can reset their password for them, in which they get a notification email but, the password is not sent to them nor is a reset link. You'll need to send them their password in a secure method. Upon logging in the user will be prompted to create a new password.
