Sometimes it’s easier to pre-assign a group of students to an activity—either as required or as a backup if they don’t choose one. That’s where Flex Default Rosters come in.
Set a consistent group of students for your Flex activity (or keep it optional) and skip re-adding the same students for every session.
📣 This Feature is currently in Early Access! Reach out to the Customer Success Team to learn more about when it will be available for your campus.
Adding a Flex Default Roster to a Flex Activity
There are a few different ways to create a default roster. You can set one up while creating a new Flex activity, or add one later to an existing activity.
The steps below walk you through how to create a Flex Default Roster for an existing activity.
Navigate to the Flex tab.
Click "Activities" at the top of the page.
Next, search through the activities table to locate the activity for which you want to create a default roster. You can use the filters at the top of the table or type the activity name in the search bar.
Click the activity's name.
Once on the Activity Sessions View, click the ... menu to access the activity settings menu.
When the activity settings menu opens, navigate to the "Students" tab.
Next, click "Add Students."
In the next pop-up box, search and enter any student(s) that will be participating in this activity moving forward, then click "Add."
Your Flex Default Roster has now been created! Students added to this default roster will appear in every future session of the activity.
📣 Note: When setting up a new Flex activity, you can create a default roster at the end of the process. Once the activity is created, you’ll land in the "Students" tab of the activity settings menu. At that point, pick up at Steps 6–7 above, as the remaining steps are the same.

This will open the activity settings menu directly to the "Students" tab. Add, remove, or edit the default roster as needed.
Allowing Students to Switch Sessions Option

If an exception is needed to allow a specific student(s) to switch sessions, unlock the student by hitting the lock icon next to the student's name. This will allow the student to switch sessions despite the feature being turned OFF.
