Attendance & Flex Periods
One of the most common times that attendance will need to be taken that isn't easily done using your student information system is during a school Flex Period.
After admins have your campus Flex Periods configured and teachers have their activities set up, attendance will automatically be configured and prepped for each session of the Flex activity.

Teachers Taking Attendance
Ten (10) minutes before the Flex activity is scheduled to begin then throughout the activity...
On the Flex tab, navigate to the Daily Overview
Click on the activity that you are offering at that time
As students start to arrive for the Flex activity, teachers can take attendance by checking students in on the Activity Session View.
Teachers can take attendance by:
Mark all students present using the button at the top of the roster (1)
Clicking on Check-In to the right of the student’s name (2)
💡Possible attendance designations are:
Present (marked as the default)
Absent
Excused Late
Unexcused Late
Students can be added to the roster during the session by clicking on the “Add Students” button (3) and searching for each student, or by adding a student group.
Need to share your roster with a substitute or document it? Export your roster to CSV using the download option (4)
If any changes need to be made, attendance can be updated throughout the Flex Period, as well as after the period ends, from the Activity Session View or on the Student’s Snapshot page.

Students Checking Themselves In
Once the ten (10) minute window before a Flex Period begins, students can also start checking themselves into their Flex activities using a kiosk device in the room where the activity is occurring.
On a kiosk device, each student will need to click on "Check In" found on the top toolbar in the upper right corner of the window
Students can then 'check in' using whatever identifier(s) the teacher has enabled
Name
Email address (even a partial address works)
Student ID Number
Scan their ID card
If students get an error saying they failed to check in, that likely means that they are expected to be attending another Flex activity and should be sent to the correct classroom.
Students who have successfully been marked present or checked in will appear on the Activity Sessions View attendance information.
Checking a Student Out
Students who need to leave a Flex activity and not return can also be checked-out from the Activity Sessions View.
To check a student out:
Hover over the row for the student
Click on the “Check Out” button for that student
Once a teacher has checked a student out, they will appear below the main roster and, if necessary, you will be able to edit the times the student was present in the activity.

FAQ
Can students check in from their student accounts?
No. Students will either have to check in through a Kiosk or be checked in by a teacher, following the steps included in this guide.
Can Teachers/Admins change the Attendance status of a student?
Yes! They can simply go to the specific session and select a different status from the drop-down next to the student’s name.
Can I edit Attendance after a Flex Period has ended?
Yes! Attendance can be edited after the period ends.
Where do I take attendance for my activity?
Teachers associated with activities currently take attendance from the Activity Sessions View.
